A Message from the HOA President

Residents and Homeowners,

Great news!  Your Clayton HOA Board is sponsoring a Property Tax Workshop for property owners and residents of Clayton.  Join us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, at the Mission Bend Club House, located at 6945 Addicks Clodine (same place monthly meetings are held).  Topics will include: basic information regarding the tax calendar, available exemptions, what it means to have an exemption, how to protest your value, what to do if you can’t pay, how to render your business personal property, what type of bpp is taxable and what is not.  There will be a question and answer period after the presentation.

Don’t forget about the CHOA Annual Meeting which falls on November 20th this year.  This is your opportunity to vote for board members and voice your concerns about the neighborhood.  If you are unable to attend in person, please return your proxy to Property Masters.  Our bylaws require a minimum number of homeowners participate (either in person or via proxy) or the election will be void and additional costs incurred.

Finally, we have received several complaints of car repair businesses being run out of homes in Clayton. Among the issues created by these businesses are houses with lots of cars parked on and around the property, oil stains on the street and driveway and blocking of traffic by the vehicles being repaired and the tow trucks that come in and out of the neighborhood. Please note that Section 7.16 (a) of the Clayton deed restrictions state:

Each Lot shall be used only for a Living Unit and a private garage or carport, and no Lot shall be used for business, commercial or professional purposes of any kind.

We have reached out to the owners and residents of each of the homes that are the subject of complaints in an attempt to resolve the issue without litigation.  However, we are committed to correcting the violations immediately and residents who fail to comply will find themselves the subject of lawsuits.

As always, please contact the board with comments, questions, concerns and suggestions.  We are always happy to hear from our residents.

Annual Clayton HOA Meeting

The annual meeting of the Clayton Home Owners Association will be held on Wednesday, November the 20th at 7:00 at the Mission Bend Club House located at 6945 Addicks Clodine 77083 which, is the same location as the monthly meetings are held.

A letter will be sent to each home owner before the meeting with details about the meeting and will include a Proxy.   In order to hold the meeting, 10% (51)  Home Owners must attend in person or be represented by signed proxy.

It is recommended that each Home Owner submit a proxy just in case they are able to attend.  The proxy will be voided if the Home Owners attends the meeting in person.

To avoid a lot of extra expense and aggravation it is extremely important that 10% or (51) residents be represented at the meeting in person or by proxy.

HOUSTON (KTRK) — Social media now brings neighbors together across the City of Houston all year around. A new website and app called ‘Nextdoor’ can make it that much easier to stay ‘in the know’ when it comes to what’s happening right where you live.

Houston’s Police Chief Charles McClelland announced his department will use these private websites and apps to increase and strengthen the relationships between people living in the participating neighborhoods and the department, to inform them on important matters.

This will also soon be available to those of us living in Harris County out side the City Limits of Houston.

Members are verified by address and name and it doesn’t allow people access to a network if they don’t actually live in the neighborhood. The focus is not on making new friends but, connecting with neighbors.

On Nextdoor.com, people talk about neighborhood and community issues including crime & safety, lost & found and classified items.

Please see https://claytontx.nextdoor.com for details and to join today. It is free.
